So let me figure this out… I can’t tell if you are FOR the freelance web marketplace or against it…
Me personally, I can’t stand bidding on projects I know that would pay more if the buyer worked with me directly, moreover, the job would be a win-win situation and result in a mutual working relationship with more benefits than the former.
Have you had success with online freelance job bidding? I have not really, I’ve only posted projects as a buyer a handful of times and had limited success in that. As for getting projects, those weren’t great results either.

Clearly, I need a copywriter, LOL! This was supposed to be my “Relevancy in Tough Economic Climate” post, where I contrast the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) of using oDesk to the assurance of dealing with me, the Digital Tinker.
I have had no offers yet - and I don’t have an opinion for or against oDesk. However, being a freelancer, I am definitely for a freelance web marketplace.
I understand your stance on bidding and the devaluation of your services as a result. I’ve been told that this is where you can build a reputation.
Naturally, if you have a network of satisfied clients, in time, the referrals will come.
Like I said, this is strictly a cashflow proposition.
