Evan Ellingson, Former Child Star of ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ and ’24,’ Passes Away at 35
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that Ellingson was discovered lifeless in the bedroom of a Fontana residence around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Authorities have found no evident signs of foul play, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday as the investigation continues.
According to information from TMZ, Ellingson’s father revealed that the former child star had been grappling with substance abuse disorder and tragically passed away in the sober living home where he was residing. His father expressed shock, noting that Ellingson had been making progress in recent times.
Evan Ellingson, renowned for his roles in “My Sister’s Keeper” and “CSI: Miami,” has passed away at the age of 35.
Born on July 1, 1988, in La Verne, Ellingson’s journey into the spotlight began at the age of 10 when he was discovered at a skatepark. His talent led him to skate for the Vans PeeWee team and star in a commercial for the shoe company. Subsequently, he made appearances on “Mad TV” and secured roles in various television projects. Notably, he was a series regular on the 2000 Fox sitcom “Titus” and portrayed Kyle Savage in the ABC sitcom “Complete Savages” alongside Keith Carradine and Erik von Detten in 2004.
As per the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s coroners division, Ellingson was discovered deceased in a bedroom at his Fontana, California residence at 11:31 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.
The exact cause of his passing remains undetermined, and an autopsy is set for Monday morning.
TMZ, the first outlet to break the news, reported that Ellingson’s father informed them about the actor’s battle with addiction, revealing that he passed away in a sober-living home.
Evan Ellingson made a lasting impact with his role as Jesse in the 2009 cancer drama “My Sister’s Keeper,” sharing the screen with a talented cast that included Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, Abigail Breslin, and Jason Patric.
Ellingson, absent from the screen for over a decade, notably portrayed the son of David Caruso’s Lt. Horatio Caine on “CSI: Miami.” Adding to his impressive resume, he also took on the role of the nephew to Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer on “24.”
