However, a twist emerged when security personnel at Imphal Airport identified a drone at 3 pm on the same day. Subsequently, agencies were alerted, and operations were put on hold pending security clearance. The revelation of a detected UFO heightened the intrigue, leading to the suspension of flight operations at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal for several hours. Among the affected flights was an IndiGo flight from Kolkata, initially instructed to ‘hold overhead,’ but later diverted to Guwahati after a 25-minute delay.
After a tense hiatus, the delayed flights finally departed from Imphal airport, securing clearance after a three-hour wait. Normalcy returned to the skies as flight operations resumed at 5:30 pm.
Imphal Airport found itself at the centre of a mysterious aerial event around 2:30 pm, causing disruptions to several commercial flights.
Acting swiftly, the Indian defence sources revealed that a Rafale fighter aircraft was scrambled from a nearby airbase to investigate the reported UFO.
