Jason David Frank, a Power Rangers actor, dies at 49
Let me break some bad news to any Power Rangers fans out there. The beloved Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series from the 1990s included actor Jason David Frank as Green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver and later the White Ranger. Frank has now passed away. It’s true what you just read!
The actor and mixed martial artist reportedly passed away on November 19 at the age of 49.
The Associated Press received confirmation of Frank’s tragic passing on Sunday from his manager, Justine Hunt. She asked for “privacy of his family and friends through this dreadful time as we come to terms with the loss of such a lovely human being,” without specifying the actor’s cause of death. Biran Butler-Au, Frank’s sports agent at Sucker Punch Entertainment, confirmed the news by sharing a touching message and a photo of the Power Rangers actor on social media.
He noted: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the demise of my buddy and client Jason David Frank. Jason, a martial artist, gained notoriety for his role as Tommy in the Power Rangers. He was a great martial artist, and I had the honour of overseeing his preparation for his battles. Please check on anyone you know who could be experiencing depression. RIP, Jason David Frank. “
Walter Emmanuel Jones, a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers co-star, too lamented Frank’s passing. Jones commented on Instagram after sharing an old photo of the Power Rangers crew, including Frank: “It’s unimaginable. RIP Jason David Frank (folded-hands emoji). The loss of another member of our unique family breaks my heart.”
For the universe, their co-star Thuy Trang died in a car accident in 2001 at the age of 27. In the television show, he portrayed the Yellow Power Ranger. Returning to the programme, Power Rangers centred on five youths tasked with defending the planet from evil. In 1993, Fox hosted the television premiere of the programme, which went on to become a cultural phenomenon. After being brainwashed by the evil Rita Repulsa in the first season, Frank’s Tommy Oliver was initially portrayed as a villain. But soon after, he was welcomed into the team as the Green Ranger and became one of the most well-known and adored characters on the program.
Four children, three from his first marriage to Shawna Frank and one from his second marriage to Tammie Frank, survive Frank.
