Mitchell Miller is signed by the Boston Bruins despite being convicted of assaulting a black classmate.
On Friday, the Boston Bruins agreed to an entry-level deal with a divisive 20-year-old defenceman who was found guilty of attacking a black, disabled high school classmate.
Isaiah Meyer-Crothers was fooled into sucking a candy push pop that had been wiped in a restroom urinal by Mitchell Miller, who was 14 at the time of the 2016 bullying scandal. This led to Meyer-Crothers being tested for hepatitis, HIV, and STDs.
According to the Arizona Republic, Miller was also charged with repeatedly hitting 14-year-old Meyer-Crothers in Toledo, Ohio while calling him “brownie” and the “N-word.”

Miller was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2020 draught, but has not yet participated in an NHL game.
Weeks later, following criticism from the public and media, the team parted ways with Miller and The University of North Dakota, where the young defenseman had played collegiate hockey.
Before signing with the Bruins, Miller played in the USHL for the previous two seasons. Miller apparently underwent many weeks of evaluation by the team.
The mother of Isaiah, Joni Meyer-Crothers, claimed on Friday in an interview with CBS Boston News that Miller had apologised to her son for the first time ever via Instagram a week prior to the Bruins signing.
