The beauty industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and in recent years a lot
of celebrities have come out with their own makeup brands. While we all may see these stars
looking breathtaking on the red carpet and at the Met Gala, it is no secret that professionals are
responsible for all that glamor. Conclusively, when these celebrities decided to launch these
beauty brands, the biggest question that arose was whether they knew the secrets to creating
amazing products with commendable results.
Some of these brands include but are not limited to:
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez :
Selena Marie Gomez announced her makeup brand, Rare Beauty via Instagram on February 4,
2020 and it officially launched on the 3rd of September in the same year. The name “Rare”
comes from her third studio album and according to Selena she always wanted the name Rare
and it became the identity of her brand and who she wanted to be, which was showing people
that being diverse and different shouldn’t make them feel excluded.
Ultimately, this brand in general is on a philanthropic mission to preach self love and raise
awareness and money for mental health support and services. Rare Beauty aims towards
empowering women to wear makeup as a want and not a need. The unrealistic beauty standards
for women over the years have been further perpetuated by makeup and the media, something
which Selena herself was affected by, which is why her brand aims to destroy these beliefs and
encourage individuals to embrace their uniqueness. To achieve this, the products are buildable
and cater to natural and glowy makeup looks.
r.e.m. Beauty by Ariana Grande :
Ariana Grande, the singer, songwriter and beauty icon launched r.em. Beauty, a futuristic
makeup brand, in November of 2021. It was named after her song “R.E.M” from Sweetener as
Ariana believes that eyes are the most effective communicators and she wanted to focus on eyes
specifically for the brand’s main drop. According to the website, r.e.m. beauty was launched to
empower people to bring their creative dreams to life. Creativity, they believe, is a subjective
concept, one which everyone should be allowed to interpret and explore in their own way and
r.e.m. beauty provides products which do exactly that.
Some famous bestsellers from the brand include the Space Shape Brow Gel, the Midnight
Shadows Eyeshadow Palettes and the Interstellar Highlighter Topper. Additionally, the makeup
brand has also incorporated skincare into the brand and Ariana Grande fans and supporters are
ecstatic to see the progress and future product drops of r.e.m. beauty.
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna :
On September 8, 2017, Fenty Beauty became one of the most famous brand disruptors which the
beauty industry had ever seen. Rihanna was well aware of this as her first solo cosmetics brand
gained immense popularity immediately upon launching. Fenty Beauty has broad inclusivity
across various skin tones and the Pro Filt’R foundation was in high demand upon the very first
release. The foundation and concealers include about 50 shades, offering a wide variety for all
skin types.
Fenty Beauty Products have gotten international praise as it shattered the beauty industry’s
limitations and introduced darker foundation shades in order to cater to the requirements of black
women and other people of color. This launch motivated other brands to also add more
inclusivity which was a positive addition in the beauty industry. It is important to incorporate
diversity within such brands, a message which Rihanna conveyed with ease
