The prospect of purchasing an NFL team is being “explored” by Matthew McConaughey.

The 53-year-old actor might team up with Jeff Bezos, the creator of Amazon, to make a move for the Washington Commanders.

He has followed the squad for decades as a fan, and is currently looking at how he can lead or join a team in the bid, a source told PEOPLE.

Dan and Tanya Snyder, the team’s current owners, previously disclosed that they were looking into selling the organisation.

Bezos, 58, is rumoured to be interested in purchasing the franchise, and it has also been reported that he may work with rap icon Jay-Z to do so.

Matthew, on the other hand, while having Texas roots, has been a fan of the series for a very long time.

The actor expressed the following of the squad in 2020: “I appreciate the direction we’re going. We’ve needed to evolve, and I believe we’re finally headed in the right direction.”

Despite his love of athletics, Matthew once asserted that becoming a father is the “greatest” thing in life.

The celebrated actor confessed that taking care of his family has always come first in his life. He and his wife Camila Alves have three children together: Levi, 14, Vida, 12, and Livingston, nine.

The one thing he had always known he wanted to be—since he was eight years old and was absolutely certain of it—clearly stood out as natural law.

The “biggest privilege and the greatest responsibility” in Matthew’s life, he said, was becoming a father.

I always knew I wanted to have kids, he continued. Being a father has always been the greatest accomplishment a guy can achieve in my eyes.

It carries the greatest responsibility and the greatest privilege.
